You could have been nice and said, "Sir.did you forget your mask?" or "Sir.would you mind wearing a mask when you aren't at your table?", but no, it was a full-throated scolding. As I walked back out to my table, the manager marched out of the kitchen and accosted me rudely about not wearing a mask as in, "If you are coming into this restaurant, you WILL wear a mask!". Apparently, either mask sales are important now or they only matter between the front door and the hostess booth. Except that I wore the mask to the table, took it off and was waited on by a server with her mask below her nose. Seriously? So I hiked back to the car and got my own. She said yes, but it would cost me a dollar. I explained to the new hostess that I'd left it in the car and asked if she had a disposable one I could use. You would have thought I was going to try and rob the place. Then one day, I walked in having forgotten my mask. Always wore my mask, tried to leave a big tip, etc. the pandemic got going because I wanted to support my local favorites.
